1) Start by using a 3" hole saw to cut a round opening in your saddlebags. Make sure your holes are centered left-to-right and top-to-bottom before cutting.
2) Next, glue the lens into the saddlebag. You will place the colored lens to the outside of the bag and the clear backing material inside the bag. Be sure to grind the inside surface of the bag and the surface of the red and clear lens to promote adhesion.
3) The lens material should protrude outside of the saddlebag. This will allow you to sand the lens until it is completely flush with the surface of the saddlebag. Make sure that the JB Weld Quick "smooshes" outside of the bag as well. The adhesive will act as your first round of body filler.
4) Apply a minimal amount of body filler to the area surrounding the lens as needed. The saddlebag is ready for primer once the lens is flush with the surface of the bag. Plan to apply two rounds of primer before painting.
5) When priming the saddlebags, mask out the lens material to protect the lens surface from the primer. While the primer will not damage the lens, the masking will prevent the need to sand the primer off the lens. The saddlebags are ready to paint once the lens is completely flush with the bags.
6) Avoid wiping paint thinner or any other solvents over the surface of the lenses.
